CANSail 1 & 2 - Learn to Sail: 8 - 14yrs

CANSail 1 - Prerequisite: None - Ages: 8 - 14

This course is a great introduction to sailing for the beginner. The CANSail 1 program is designed for beginners to introduce the basic skills of sailing, including safety, seamanship and boat handling. On land, sailors will learn the basic elements of sail theory; the names for the parts of the boat and how to rig a boat. On the water sailors will focus on boat safety and boat handling skills and learn to find the wind direction, setting the sail, and steering.


CANSail 2 - Prerequisite: CANSail 1 - Ages: 8 -14

CANSail Level 2 builds on the fundamentals achieved in CANSail 1. Sailors will build their knowledge of sailing terms, rigging, and sailing theory while improving their sailing skills by learning about weather and sail trimming for optimum speed and direction.

CANSail 3 & 4 - Sailing & Racing - Advanced Skill Development: 10 - 14 yrs

CANSail 3 - Prerequisite: CANSail 2 Ages: 10 - 14

CANSail 3 is a comprehensive course that is designed for intermediate to advanced level sailors, who have completed their CANSail 2. This level of the CANSail program focuses on introducing sailors to advanced sailing techniques including sail trim, boat tuning, boat maintenance and introduction to racing. Boat handling in higher wind conditions, backwards sailing, and without a rudder are also fundamentals of these courses.


CANSail 4 - Prerequisite: CANSail 3 Age: 14

CANSail 4 is designed for more advanced sailors who have completed their CANSail 3. It is focused on advanced sailing techniques including sail trim, boat tuning, boat maintenance and racing rules and techniques. The sailor will be learning skill associated with sailing in higher wind conditions.
